Merchants open series with win.

After polishing the Paris Mounties off in a 4 game sweep in their opening round, the Merchants opened up the second round Friday night against their Rivals the Woodstock Renegades with a 3-2 win in Norwich. Stuart Preston scored the game winner on a Powerplay with just over 6 minutes left in the third. Norwich at times seem to have their way with the Renegades who were playing their first game in 3 weeks as Norwich outshot Woodstock 36-17. Matt Coutts got the win in goal for Norwich, Alex Gegeny toook the loss for Woodstock. Game 2 goes Saturday night in Woodstock at 7:45pm, Game 3 will go Sunday afternoon in Norwich at 2 pm.
